Kinzie Sweet BBQ Baked Bratwurst

Looking for the best BBQ baked bratwurst recipe? These oven-baked brats are juicy, flavorful, and perfectly complemented by the rich and smoky Kinzie Sweet BBQ Sauce. This easy recipe delivers beer-infused brats with caramelized onions, peppers, and sauerkraut for an irresistible meal!

Ingredients:

1 package (5-6 links) uncooked bratwurst

1-2 bell peppers, sliced

1 onion, sliced

2 heaping tablespoons Kinzie Sweet BBQ Sauce, plus more for finishing

1 beer (or substitute with broth)

2 cups broth or water

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 cup sauerkraut

Optional: sliced jalapeños

Salt & pepper to taste

Hot dog buns of choice

Instructions:

1. Preheat & Sear

Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C). Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium heat and sear the bratwurst on each side for a few minutes, ensuring they are evenly spaced.

2. Bake with Beer & BBQ Sauce

Turn off the heat and pour in 1 beer (or broth) along with 2 cups of water or additional broth. Stir in 2 heaping tablespoons of Kinzie Sweet BBQ Sauce for that signature sweet and smoky depth. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 20-30 minutes, or until the brats reach an internal temperature of 160°F.

3. Sauté the Vegetables

While the bratwursts bake, heat olive oil in a separate pan. Toss the sliced bell peppers and onions with salt and pepper, then spread them on the same pan as the brats if there’s room. If needed, add a little extra liquid to prevent burning. Sauté for 10-15 minutes until caramelized and tender.

4. Assemble & Serve

Place the baked brats in hot dog buns, then top with sauerkraut, sautéed vegetables, and sliced jalapeños (if using). Finish with an extra drizzle of Kinzie Sweet BBQ Sauce for maximum flavor. Enjoy your BBQ bratwurst feast!
